Shields presents at school diversity conference
Tom Shields, associate professor and chair of graduate education & associate professor of leadership studies, presented the Can We Learn & Live Together 2.0: Housing & School Segregation in the Richmond Region report at the National Coalition on School Diversity 5th National Conference on School Diversity at Georgetown University Law Center.
Shields participated in a lunch workshop panel with lawyers and advocates discussing Housing/School Connections in Public Policy.
Shields joined a number of regional researchers to release the “Can We Learn & Live Together 2.0” report at a community event on the University of Richmond campus in October 2024. In addition to the University of Richmond, the event was cohosted by HousingForward Virginia, Partnership for Housing Affordability, Housing Opportunities Made Equal of Virginia (HOME), The Commonwealth Institute, VCU School of Education, VCU Research Institute for Social Equity, and the RVA Eviction Lab.
